The Journey that is worth writing about

…Continued. https://www.kajiesafaris.com/the-journey/

The most bizarre and interesting things happened this day. For starters; it started raining like crazy the moment we entered the park. We hardly saw any animals apart from the Uganda Cobs (who apparently couldn’t copy the other animals and shelter from the savage poring) Anyway, from all this we headed back home with our spirits a bit on the low. We figured we’d come back early morning and they’ll be out with the early morning sun to play.

This is when things got interesting. First of all we were lucky enough to meet a lone elephant crossing the road. Seriously, right in the middle of the road. We had to stop and take endless pictures, with it’s majestic moves as it strolled to the nearby bushes and occasionally looking up to make sure we weren’t getting a little too close to his space. Yes, elephants have personal space issues with humans, which i respect because humans meddle quite a lot. We spent about 30 minutes just appreciating from a considerable distance as he went about his business. Quite an amazing site being close like that!

We finally decided to continue on as we expected to see a lot more on our next day, only a few meters away a transit track lay sideways on the side of the road. At first we thought “Oh look, there’s been an accident!” Until we noticed the tires still spinning. Suddenly instinct kicked in and we were all rushing out of the car to possibly help how we can, the driver was still a little bent up from the fall and out of it, took a while to get him to understand what we were tying to communicate, Ronald carried the tool kit in the hope to break out the window and let him out to breath some air fast but soon other good Samaritans were climbing up the track to help haul him up fast. I kept thinking “Don’t blow up! Don’t blow up!” I should probably stop watching too much Tv. Soon, a bunch of people were circling the track and making assumptions on how that could have happened or how it would have ended. People love a good story i guess. We offered the driver a bottle of water from our travel water reservoir and after about 8 minutes, he was standing on his own and responding to people.

All this happened way to fast and way to close. It was just about enough excitement that any of us can take for that day. We might not have seen a lot of game that day, but we helped a man in a bad situation and stalked an elephant. Seems like a day worth writing about!
