With a range from historical, cultural and religious attractions, Uganda has been deemed naturally endowed with unique tourist features and wildlife. As I write this, Tourism has become the leading export foreign exchange generator bringing in a total of 1.4 billion in the financial year 2016/2017 (UBOS). It has become a huge catalyst in the socio economic development of this country as many private individuals and groups predominantly the youth have realized how much untapped potential it has and undeniably taken up the risk to utilize this. With the support from bodies like Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Museums and Antiquities association, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wild life Education Centre as well as the private sector, Tourism employs over 480,000 people. This is a huge impact on the seemingly alarmingly high unemployment rates especially among the youth. Uganda however its location has quite the competitive advantage. We have a wide range of unique attractions like source of the river Nile, Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable forest, Leopards, lions, Uganda Kob, baboons, chimpanzees and many more in our national parks and Waterfalls; our attractions unlike most other countries are not very commercialized, this gives tourists a chance to feel close to nature and experience Africa in its most basic form and of course not forgetting our untapped potential that attracts a lot of investors, with the very favorable policies by government in a united front to promote tourism…it is only bound to keep booming and providing experiences that are one of a kind. The Annual International Tourism day will be celebrated here in Jinja at the source of the River Nile on 27th September 2018.
